Urge Your Senators and Representatives to Take Action to Protect Publicly Owned Trees
There is currently no federal prohibition of vegetation removal or tree cutting on public rights-of-way for the purpose of enhancing the view of billboards. As a result, advertising companies are allowed to remove or cut publicly owned trees and vegetation. Beyond destroying healthy trees, this irresponsible action mars scenic roadways, contributes to soil erosion, and damages property values by removing noise and pollution barriers, exposing homes directly to highway traffic.
Urge Congress to take action to include protections for publicly owned trees on right-of-ways.
