Scenic Snapshot: May 2023

The last few months have been quite an adventure for Scenic America. We began the spring season by launching our new website and branding, an effort a year in the making. We also partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to help plant trees and generate interest in alternative energy. We saw major news regarding the byways, as the FHWA announced nearly $22 million in grants, and a new scenic byway was officially designated in Missouri.

 

Scenic America Launches New Website, Visual Brand Identity

The new website focuses on the main principles of the organization’s mission and objectives, features large and attractive visuals of America’s most scenic views, and assists users in locating, learning about, and accessing America’s scenic byways, among other features.

 

Trees for Test Drives – Take a BMW EV for a Spin and Help Plant Trees

Last month, Scenic America announced a partnership with BMW of North America that will help replant trees in fire-damaged areas in the United States. For every electric vehicle (EV) test drive taken at a participating BMW Center in the U.S.,  BMW will donate 25 new trees to be planted by Scenic America.

 

The Ozark Run: How one man’s vision became Missouri’s newest scenic byway

On March 8, 2023, the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission officially designated the Ozark Run Scenic Byway, the state’s first officially designated byway in nearly twenty years.

The Federal Highway Administration announced 38 grants to State and Tribal applicants to support the National Scenic Byways Program, the first NSBP grants to be awarded since 2012.
